Guo Li Xiang: Claypot meets Hotpot at Raffles City

Guo Li Xiang-Claypot Hotpot Restaurant Singapore

If you’re always on the lookout for new food spots, Guo Li Xiang at Raffles City Shopping Centre might just be your next go-to. It’s a place where claypot meets hotpot, and trust me, it’s as good as it sounds. Let’s dive into what makes this spot stand out without dressing it up too much. It’s all about good food, straightforward talk, and sharing what’s really on the plate.

About Guo Li Xiang

Guo Li Xiang throws a bit of a curveball in the typical hotpot game by serving up a mix of claypot and hotpot dishes. Here, the idea is pretty simple yet smart: enjoy some tender, flavourful meats or seafood in a claypot first, then move on to a hotpot filled with your favourite add-ons. It’s a two-part dining adventure that’ll keep your taste buds on their toes.

What’s Cooking?

The menu kicks off with some serious contenders in the broth department, simmered for 8 hours to pack in all the flavours. Whether you’re a beef fanatic or not, there’s something in there for you. But hey, let’s talk about what we tried and how it stacked up.

Signature Beef Brisket Claypot Hotpot

The Signature Beef Brisket Claypot Hotpot is pretty much a hero dish. The sauce it’s served in? Rich and packed with flavour right from the start. The brisket? So tender it practically falls apart. And when you think it can’t get any better, you add in the collagen soup, and boom – flavour level up. Throw in your add-ons (for us it was the Egg Bomb, fried tofu skin, and Romaine lettuce), and you’ve got yourself a hotpot that’s hard to beat.

Egg Bomb and Other Delights

The Egg Bomb is a game-changer – fried to crisp perfection, throw it into the broth to soak up the hotpot goodness. Swapping out white rice for Yee Mee was a top move. It’s a large portion of noodles, so they’re perfect for sharing. Throw this into your hot pot to also soak up the flavours and fill your tummy.

The Rice Noodle Roll with Egg & Preserved Radish is an unexpected twist, softer and packed with flavour, especially with that side of chilli. The Crispy Cordyceps Flower, with its curry powder coating, is crunchy, fun, and a snack that feels a bit healthier than your average bite. The Crispy Green Chilli with Pepper Salt is for those who love a good crunch without the heat – think bell peppers but bigger and better.

Drinks on the Side

The Bitter Gourd Lemon Tea might sound like a wild card, but it’s surprisingly refreshing. You get the usual lemon tea vibe until you hit the bitter notes at the bottom – a nice touch if you’re up for something different. And for a more traditional sip, the Guo Li Xiang Tea hits the spot, rounding off the meal nicely.

The Vibe and Location

Right in Raffles City, this place is easy to find and fits right into your shopping day or a meet-up with friends. It’s got a laid-back vibe, with a mix of modern and traditional touches that make it welcoming. With space for a good crowd, it’s a spot for all sorts – families, friends, or date night.

Wrapping It Up

All in all, Guo Li Xiang brings something new to the table with its mix of claypot and hotpot. It’s a place where the food speaks for itself, and the variety keeps you coming back. So next time you’re at Raffles City and fancy a bit of both worlds – tender meats and a customisable hotpot – you know where to head.
