This year, they have outdone themselves with the Double-the-love Parent’s Day Promotion, a celebration designed to bring families together over a sumptuous meal curated by Executive Cantonese Chef Hoo Chee Keong.
Celebrating Parent’s Day
Parent’s Day at Si Chuan Dou Hua is all about honouring the bonds of love and tradition. The restaurant offers a variety of set menus that highlight the best of their culinary expertise, crafted with premium ingredients and presented with a touch of elegance. We had the privilege of previewing the Parent’s Day menu, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish.
Highlights of the Parent’s Day Set Menus
Si Chuan Dou Hua’s Parent’s Day set menus are a culinary adventure crafted by Executive Chef Hoo Chee Keong. Each dish is a symphony of flavours designed to tantalize your taste buds and create lasting memories. The highlights of these set menus include:
- Stir-fried Organic Cabbage with Sakura Prawns (樱花虾 XO酱炒有机成熟包菜): Tender, crisp cabbage leaves are expertly tossed in a fragrant, umami-rich XO sauce, complemented by the sweet succulence of sakura prawns. This dish celebrates the freshness of organic ingredients while delivering a satisfying balance of savoury and subtly sweet notes.
- Braised Pork with Wine served in Pot (酒香坛子肉): Tender chunks of succulent pork are lovingly simmered in a velvety wine-infused sauce until they reach a melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The fragrant essence of wine infuses every fibre of the meat, creating a luxurious depth of flavour.
- Stir-fried South Africa Fresh Abalone Slice with Black Tiger Paw and White Asparagus (黑虎掌白芦笋炒南非活鲜鲍鱼片): This dish is a true celebration of premium ingredients, where the sweetness of abalone meets the boldness of black tiger paw, perfectly complemented by the delicate crunch of white asparagus.
- Flavourful Mochi (雪梅娘): Each bite is a celebration of colour and taste, promising a symphony of textures and aromas. The chewiness of mochi meets the unexpected flavours of avocado and purple sweet potato, all encased in a comforting embrace of thin glutinous rice skin.

The Food We Tried
During our visit, we sampled a variety of dishes, some of which are featured in the Parent’s Day menu. Here’s a closer look at what we enjoyed:
Lychee Red Tea
We started with a refreshing Lychee Red Tea, which, with its subtle sweetness and fragrant aroma, is a perfect palate cleanser.
Steamed Prawn Dumpling with Spinach
The Steamed Prawn Dumpling with Spinach was a delicate and flavorful start. The fresh, succulent prawns, encased in a thin, translucent wrapper, paired beautifully with the spinach, which was steamed to perfection.
Steamed Mushroom Dumpling
Next up was the Steamed Mushroom Dumpling, a dish that impressed me with its earthy and umami-rich flavours. The mushroom filling was tender and juicy, making each bite a delight.
Deep-fried Shredded Duck and Organic Cabbage Spring Roll
The Deep-fried Shredded Duck and Organic Cabbage Spring Roll added a delightful crunch to our meal. The duck was tender and flavorful, complemented by the fresh, crisp cabbage.
Stir-fried Handmade Organic Cabbage in XO Sauce
We were treated to a live demonstration of the Stir-fried Handmade Organic Cabbage in XO Sauce. Watching the chef expertly toss the cabbage in the wok was an experience in itself. Thanks to the XO sauce, the dish was aromatic and packed with umami.
Pan-fried Shanghai Minced Meat Dumpling
Another highlight was the pan-fried Shanghai Minced Meat Dumpling. The crispy exterior gave way to a juicy, flavorful minced meat filling that was both hearty and satisfying.
Boiled Organic Sweet Corn Dumpling
The Boiled Organic Sweet Corn Dumpling was a unique dish that stood out for its sweet and slightly crunchy texture. The sweetness of the corn was a pleasant contrast to the savoury notes of the other dishes.
Spinach Noodles Soup with Shredded Chicken
The Spinach Noodles Soup with Shredded Chicken was a comforting bowl of goodness. The spinach noodles were smooth and silky, while the shredded chicken added a delicate flavour to the clear, light broth.
Homemade Bean Curd with Organic Purple Sweet Potato and Wolfberries
For dessert, we had the Homemade Bean Curd with Organic Purple Sweet Potato and Wolfberries. This dish was a twist on the restaurant’s signature dessert, with the sweet potato and wolfberries adding a delightful sweetness and a pop of colour.
Chilled Organic Dragon Fruit Jelly
The Chilled Organic Dragon Fruit Jelly was the perfect end to our meal. Refreshing and light, the jelly was enhanced by the texture of chia seeds, making it a delightful treat.
