Oceans of Seafood: Bluefin Tuna Feast

Enjoyed a night of fresh seafood with a few other Burpple Tastemakers at Oceans of Seafood, Pasar Bella, recently. I’m a personal fan of devouring catches from the sea, especially when it’s super fresh, so I had to attend this tasting even though I signed up to attend an Adobe Lightroom seminar (which I really hope they hold again).

The highlight of the tasting session was the Bluefin Tuna Cutting Demonstration. We watched a 54kg Tuna sliced up effortlessly in front of our eyes by the chef with over 20 years of experience. Servings of tuna followed, in the form of:

  • Chutoro Sashimi
  • Chutoro Nigiri
  • Negitoro Temaki
  • Negitoro Chirashi; and
  • Tuna Hamburger

We got to try these delicious goodies as well:

  • Pacific Oysters
  • Boston Lobster
  • Miso Soup
  • Peach Jelly Sake

I went home with a very satisfied and filled tummy that night! My favourites were the Chutoro Sashimi, Pacific Oysters, Boston Lobster and Peach Jelly Sake. Below are the highlights of my evening.

The Pacific Oysters at Oceans of Seafood were super fresh and plump! So good we even had a second serving.

The Chutoro Sashimi was super fresh and buttery. I’ve always avoided tuna sashimi, usually opting for salmon, as most tuna I’ve tasted had a very strong fishy smell. But I was pleasantly surprised that this Bluefin Tuna wasn’t fishy. This Bluefin Tuna is imported directly from Amami Oshima, Japan.

The Boston Lobster that’s included in Oceans of Seafood’s Japanese-themed Christmas platter with Garlic Butter and my favourite Miso Butter sauce.
